Scroll work found on firearms and knives is deeply rooted in traditions that span centuries. Through time, scroll styles evolved differently in various regions of the world. Individual interpretation of some very basic rules also gives each style its own unique appearance. Traditionally, these interpretations are distinctly regional; discernibly English, German, American, Italian, and so on.
Continuance of traditional styles were fostered by the symbiotic relationship of the master engravers and their apprentices - and the customers that desired their masterwork.
One factor common to all traditional scrolls is that when well designed and masterfully executed, each one brings an endless fascination and a declaration of pride of ownership.
